Agape Guest Spotlight | Lighthouse Mission – Bellingham, WA Homeless Shelter
Ally's Story

Agape Guest Spotlight

Meet Aly. She first arrived at the Mission’s overnight shelter about a year ago. She was young, homeless, in need of care and five months pregnant. Aly found herself dealing with relational, emotional and spiritual brokenness in her life.

In April 2014, she was able to transition to Agape Home, the Mission’s transitional housing for women. She delivered a healthy baby boy over the summer, despite going through a drug treatment program. Aly is now recognizing and working through grief and pain and pursuing recovery in all aspects of her life.

I used to look at life like it was a game. There’s more to life than drugs and drinking. Life is too precious.

Bridget Reeves, Women’s Ministry Manager at Agape Home, says she’s become more independent, had an attitude shift, become a better listener, and more loving and caring. She always speaks from her heart. “Aly used to say, ‘I would never be involved in faith,’ but her mindset has totally changed regarding that,” Bridget said.

Like many of the guests who walk through our doors, Aly has transformed her life through the encouragement and resources provided by the Lighthouse Mission staff and community. “I used to look at life like it was a game. There’s more to life than drugs and drinking. Life is too precious.”
