Local Kiwanis Club Makes Agape Home Playground a Reality
Kiwanis Club of Bellingham reached their goal of $22,000 with the help of other local Kiwanis clubs, and the Kiwanis Club of Bellingham Foundation. Site preparation was by Weden Construction.
The equipment was delivered Monday and on Saturday May 8th at 9 AM, members of the Bellingham Kiwanis Club will come together to assemble the playground equipment at Agape Home investing “sweat equity” as well as financial support.
According to The National Child Traumatic Stress network, homeless children are sick at twice the rate of other children. Exercise is a great way for children to combat sickness and cope with stress.
“We are looking forward to the assembly of an outdoor playground at Agape Home to help the children remain healthy and happy,” said Ron Buchinski, Executive Director of Lighthouse Mission Ministries.
Agape Home is an outreach of Lighthouse Mission Ministries for homeless single women, and women with children. In 2009 the Agape Home provided over 3,400 nights of lodging to homeless children.

The new scholarship, financed by Bellingham Yacht Club, is designed to give a graduate of a local relief organization a chance at an education, and a well-paying job.
But Johnson didn't apply for the scholarship; he was selected by people who had been watching him. Read More
