We’re excited to announce our newest outreach program, Joy Riders! Community outreach is an essential part of the Lighthouse Mission and the Joy Riders team will help community members in need by riding through the streets of Downtown Bellingham on electric scooters (with helmets) to engage with individuals. These electric scooters make it easier to access many areas of Downtown, including alleyways. The team will also carry Coffee Backpacks to offer hot cups of coffee.
Staff and volunteers will serve as ambassadors of the Lighthouse Mission in the Downtown Core by initiating relationships and inviting individuals experiencing homelessness into services at Base Camp. The Joy Riders will also engage with businesses and patrons of Downtown, offering support in interacting compassionately with neighbors facing homelessness.
