Ashley’s Story

One day a woman called asking about our services; like many of the people we serve, in her voice you could feel the hopelessness and desperation that was weighing her down. She was running out of food and had nowhere to go, nowhere to take her two daughters, besides the truck that they had been living in the past few weeks.

Health problems and growing medical expenses left her and her girls homeless. But with one phone conversation and a short interview, she was able to secure food and shelter for her family.

She had lost hope in herself, but she would soon realize that she was not beyond hope, and embrace God who as 1 Peter 1:3-4 says , “…In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you.”

Ashley stayed with us for eight months, and was able to find housing after her health stabilized. Upon moving out she said, “I was able to change my life through God’s grace and with the help and caring support of the staff. There are so many who are homeless out there, so I consider myself very blessed to have received so much help.”
