STREET CONNECT is Lighthouse Mission’s newest program that is designed to reach out to people who are chronically homeless. Volunteers get to reach out, build trust, deepen relationships, and show our neighbors who are homeless that we care about them.
In the fall of 2018, a two-stall shower trailer will be added to the Street Connect Program, giving people who are homeless access to warm showers and sanitation. The trailer will have two separate units, each with a shower, toilet, and sink. Access to warm showers and restrooms is essential to a person’s dignity.
We are grateful to Northwest Chevrolet who donated the van and covered the expense of designing and wrapping it!
A Mission staff member will lead teams of 6-12 volunteers to key areas around the greater Bellingham area four evenings a week. This could include you! The Street Connect team will talk and pray with people who are homeless and hand out needed items, such as socks, sandwiches, water bottles, blankets, toiletries, etc. Check out the Needs List for items you could donate to help those who are homeless and without shelter.
