Lighthouse Mission helps homeless during the horrible cold. With sub-freezing temperatures expected to hit Whatcom County this weekend, Bellingham-based Lighthouse Mission Ministries is providing food and shelter to keep safe many who are homeless.
Extreme Cold is Very Dangerous to those in Need
Hans Erchinger-Davis, President & CEO at the Lighthouse Mission in Bellingham, said the arrival of weather with temperatures in the 20s will likely fill all its emergency shelter beds.
“Even when we’re full at night, people can come in Base Camp, our Bellingham emergency shelter, during the daytime,” Erchinger-Davis said.
The Lighthouse Mission overflow shelter can host up to 40 people in addition to Base Camp’s 200 beds.
