Over the past 90 days, the Lighthouse Mission has held numerous events in order to raise funds for an elevator in their main building at 910 West Holly Street. The events included a banquet, a motorcycle ride, and a Kings Men of Song concert. Fortunately, all of these events combined were able to raise enough money to build an elevator. We also had a lot of support from some generous local businesses.
This elevator is needed to help disabled guests move between the three floors of the building. The cafeteria downstairs and the bedrooms upstairs were previously inaccessible to those who couldn’t climb stairs. One third of those guests are handicapped veterans. Now, the guests will be able to access all the necessary resources to change their lives for the better.
The initial fundraising goal for the elevator was $200,000, because of you we were able to exceed our goal in order to have enough to cover sales tax and additional fees!
The contract was signed on May 6, and we are currently in the process of obtaining the building permit. We hope to begin construction this Fall! Throughout the process, guests at the Mission will notice only slight inconveniences. The Lighthouse Mission is extremely grateful to anyone who has contributed to this campaign which will help them better serve the homeless.
