You’re invisible, victimized, marginalized, people hide their kids from you, and it chips away at your heart. You’re dealing with a mixture of adverse childhood experiences, lack of education and job skills, wage disparity, serious behavioral and physical health concerns, alcohol and drug and cannabis addiction, human trafficking, mental illness, family dysfunction, young people aging out of the foster care system, lack of affordable housing, and so much more. Layer on COVID-19, with its reduction of services and additional job losses, stress, and isolation, and you have a recipe for disaster where the poor suffer most.
It is so exciting to see amazing stories of God restoring people back to Himself. And that we are allowed – both you and Lighthouse – to participate in this restoration is just unbelievable. If you are not already a monthly recurring online donor – please act now and make a difference in someone’s life today. This story of James’ is a perfect example of just how you can partner with us to make an enormous difference in the life of a homeless person today.

A story about the staff of Lighthouse, and their desire to do what God wants them to do, and be who He wants them to be.

Neil exclaims “Thank you, Jesus!” Neil moved from Trinidad to Washington, D.C. with his mom when he was young. In the 70s, drugs flooded the D.C. area and he was caught up in it. Throughout his life, Neil searched for the truth. “I always knew there was a God and I searched in a lot of different places,” he said. “I practiced Islam for about 27 years.”

After completing treatment, Athena had lost all faith and didn’t know if she could go on. She needed a safe place to regain custody of her kids. Moving into Agape Home “was a tremendous relief.
