Where God Wanted Me To Be

When I volunteered at the cold weather shelter, I realized that I could make a greater impact on people’s lives. At that time I was feeling useless. When I was staying up all night making sure that the women felt safe and them telling me they felt safer with me there, I realized that was where God wanted me to be.

A story about the staff of Lighthouse, and their desire to do what God wants them to do, and be who He wants them to be.

A homeless person saved through volunteers with a heart, and donors who gave.

You Empowered a Divine Connection

Street Connect volunteers spotted a gentleman walking down Northwest Avenue who looked lost. They quickly pulled over to offer him some supplies and asked if there was anything else they could do for him. They discovered he had just become homeless that day and had no clue what he was going to do. After praying with him, he decided to go his own way for the night.

Christmas in the Cold – Help Today

Winter is harsh for those who are homeless. The cold, the dirt, the loneliness – and the holidays, all lead towards a desperate need. The Lighthouse Mission, throughout the holiday season, sees stories like these time and time again and we need your support as we work to ensure the welfare of many who are in need during this Christmas and colder holiday times. Are you looking to partner with a trusted Christian philanthropic organization, we would covet your partnership with us.

Chris is sitting outside alone on a milk crate. Water droplets from the edge of his tent form a small puddle in frosted moss. There’s a camp stove and an old bike next to him. “It’s Christmas!”

No One Should Go Hungry on Thanksgiving

Imagine you’re walking along Holly Street in downtown Bellingham.  Shivering doesn’t even help to warm you anymore, you’ve been outside so long.  You haven’t eaten in two days.  Your feet seem to get heavier with each step.  You just wish someone would notice.  But you feel invisible.

This was Jim’s reality: “Being on the streets, I was very hungry.  I felt bad, my stomach really hurt and a lot of the time I couldn’t sleep because of it.  I prayed every night that things would change.”
