“When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion,
we were like those who dreamed.
Our mouths were filled with laughter,
our tongues with songs of joy.”
Fall is here. The cooler weather brings more and more people to the Mission. You see a conditioned hopelessness in their averting eyes. So many attempts at sobriety, psychiatrists, employment, relationships. Some hearts are as hard as stones. It’s impossible to even consider that life could be different.
In time, Mission staff, volunteers, and dedicated guests get to know people. Trust is earned. Their behavior starts changing. Our promise, “We will love you for life,” is pondered. A new ambition is found.
Even when you’ve messed up, there are pathways back. Hearts are softened in this culture of possibility and grace. They encounter Jesus and shame lifts off their shoulders. There’s dreaming again! Hope!
This Thanksgiving, you’ll be part of radical hospitality that says to someone who’s downcast, “you are worth everything!”
You’re helping people dream again at Lighthouse Mission Ministries. I can’t begin to thank you enough.
